Pressing lightly on the tablet will give light brush strokes and darker brush strokes with a heavier hand. The Pressure setting works best with a tablet. The heavier the pressure, the darker the paint stroke. The darker brush stroke was created with a tablet where you have more control over pressure. The light brush stroke was created with a mouse. In the image below, we used the same brush as with the Brush Defaults. The brush settings will still apply but the Controller settings will not. This option relates to the device you are using such as a tablet or mouse. You may also find that, depending on your system, the painting may slow down a bit. We will discuss this later in the tutorial. This is because, as you paint, the stroke adjusts due to it being a path. It’s as if the paint stroke has a life of its own, shifting or moving while you paint. When working with Vector brushes you may note that they look a little strange while painting. The settings for that brush will be applied such as Width, Size, Opacity and so on. You can then click on the Brushes panel top right, select a brush and start painting. These are the default settings currently stored with the selected brush. It is usually set by default to Brush Defaults or None. The Controller settings determine how the brush stroke acts. You will first need to click on the Vector Brush Tool on the left side toolbar. This is where you can make infinite changes to the brushes. You also have options to go to advanced settings by clicking on more. In the settings within Pixel Persona you can change the size of your brush, the hardness, flow and opacity. Select the brush you wish to use and then select the color you want your brush stroke to be. Select the Brush Tool and then go to your Brush Studio. Using Affinity Designer Brushes 1. Changing the Brush Settings On the PC/Mac version to change the category you will need to click on the arrow icon next to the name of the category and another panel will drop down with all your currently installed categories. Click on any one of them to jump directly to that category. You can also change category by clicking on the name of the category and a drop down panel will list all the brush categories that you currently have installed. On the iPad versionto switch to a different category you can toggle between them by clicking on the arrow next to the category name. Let's run through the stepof changing between brushes.
